What Is CoinGecko?

CoinGecko is a website that provides up-to-date cryptocurrency data. The website is now regarded as one of the industry's major information aggregators, tracking data on over 10,000 digital assets across 517 crypto exchanges. The service debuted in 2014, thanks to Malaysians Bobby Ong and TM Lee. 

CoinGecko's creators stated that they wanted to raise the degree of knowledge of the crypto market among its players. Ong and Li did not aim to follow simply asset market capitalization at first. Instead, they wanted to make it easier to understand how assets are doing.

Background of CoinGecko

CoinGecko has provided a quarterly earnings report on the cryptocurrency industry since 2017. It is accessible to everybody. The reports' authors study the motion of rates and the impact of different events on it. 

The service launched its platform for integrating into other sites or applications the next year, CoinGecko API. Anyone can obtain and utilize the information in their product using a set of functions. In addition, trust Score, a system for analyzing trading pairs and crypto exchanges was released by the service in May 2019. 

As a result, the designers resolved to take on dishonest websites and untrustworthy assets. As a result, the service's creators were named to Forbes' "30 under 30" list the same year. Furthermore, the platform entails the following information:

• Position of the asset in the overall rating based on capitalization.

Current Situation of CoinGecko

CoinGecko will be available in 21 languages, such as Russian, by the end of October 2021. Current digital asset prices are available in 38 fiat currencies, like the Us dollar, euro, and Russian ruble. Despite the service's strong statements, the user is greeted on the main page by the top cryptocurrencies by capitalization. 

Each line contains the asset's name and the most relevant information about it, such as the price and recent changes, as well as the market capitalization. On the left, a graph of the last week's exchange rate movement is also presented for clarification.

Each of the top assets can be selected to access a page with further information. The bitcoin rate, for example, can be visualized in the form of a graph on the "Overview" tab. In addition, CoinGecko allows users to view whatever timeline they like. A summary of trade volumes, prices, and the most recent news, is provided below. 

The following item, "Markets," offers information on the price and volume of trading on various exchanges. You can create a chart identical to the one on the "Overview" tab on the "Chart" tab. "Historical data" and "News" are self-explanatory. As the final tab, Bitcoin has a "Halving Countdown" where you can check how much time is left just before the mining reward is lowered.
