What Is Listing?

Listing is the process of opening transactions of a trading pair on a platform. When a platform or exchange lists a trading pair against a specific asset, this step is called listing the asset. In conventional terms, listing happens when a company's stocks are available for trading on the stock exchange that has "listed" them.

This shows that the stock exchange has assessed the company against its listing criteria and vetted it against them. Listing can be seen as a sign of approval from the exchange that the asset being listed meets the basic minimum standards.  

Cryptocurrency Listing

A cryptocurrency has to apply to an exchange to be listed. Every exchange has its requirements, which usually include minimum levels of liquidity and users. The cryptocurrency also has to adhere to the exchange's standards.

Cryptocurrency exchanges also show a similar approval when listing crypto projects. It is seen as a show of trust that the project has satisfied the listing criteria of the exchange. In addition, listing an asset in the form of a trading pair with Bitcoin (BTC) or another central exchange pair like BNB or Ethereum (ETH) indicates enough liquidity in the trading pair to validate the listing.
