Binance USD (BUSD) is a stablecoin issued by Cryptocurrency exchange Binance in 2019. BUSD is pegged to the U.S. Dollar, meaning that 1 BUSD is meant to always be redeemable for approximately $1.00 USD. Binance USD is an ERC-20 token, titled ‘digital fiat currency’ by some, with Binance Smart Chain (BSC) compatibility. As is the case with other stablecoins, it combines the stability of traditional fiat currencies with the wide array of use cases and technological advancements native to cryptocurrencies, such as various Decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications, Decentralized Exchange (DEX) trading, low fee transfers and much more. BUSD is the third largest of its kind, only behind Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC). Holders of Binance USD can transfer their tokens to any wallet globally in an instant, deposit them to earn interest on their funds, or simply use them as a store of value. According to official sources, BUSD is fully regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (F) through a partnership with Paxos.
