What Is the Hyperledger (Hyperledger Foundation)?
The Linux Foundation launched Hyperledger in 2015 as an umbrella project for open source blockchains and blockchain-related tools to facilitate the collaborative development of blockchain-based distributed ledgers.
Originally, the Hyperledger Foundation only featured two core projects: Hyperledger Fabric, a codebase incorporating work from Digital Asset, Blockstream's libconsensus, and IBM's OpenBlockchain; and Hyperledger Sawtooth, created at Intel's incubation group.
Nevertheless, the Hyperledger Foundation is the fastest-growing initiative that Linux has started. Hyperledger seeks to accelerate enterprise blockchain adoption by providing a diverse set of solid frameworks, tools, and libraries for enterprise-grade blockchain implementations.
While Bitcoin and Ethereum depend on permissionless blockchains, the Hyperledger Foundation concentrates on permissioned corporate blockchains. This means that the blockchains are run in a private network in which participants have an inherent incentive to follow the consensus rules.
Contributions of Hyperledger (Hyperledger Foundation)
The Linux Foundation established five primary aims for the Hyperledger project upon its introduction. One of the project's primary goals is to build an easy-to-use, blockchain-based environment for businesses to communicate internally and with one another.
Another significant purpose for the Hyperledger Foundation is to promote educational materials and events highlighting blockchain technology's many market prospects. Finally, because of the inherent properties of blockchains, the Hyperledger foundation also intends to establish a business infrastructure that is impartial, open, and community-driven.
Lastly, the foundation is working to promote and strengthen community spirit to aid in advancing blockchain technology in the corporate sphere. Throughout its work and partnerships, the Hyperledger Foundation has successfully produced various real-world examples and applications for blockchain technology. One of the foundation's key goals is to spread blockchain technology to as many businesses as possible, ranging from financial services to supply chain management to healthcare.
The Hyperledger Foundation is one of the most well-known blockchain ecosystems in the world, with industry partners such as IBM, Walmart, Honeywell, Fujitsu, and Intel. As demand for blockchain technology grows, the foundation's reach spreads to new industries and numerous use cases.
