Weekly Crypto Outlook – September 8, 2025
A sharp NFP miss and falling yields boost expectations for a September Fed cut, while crypto activity stays muted despite a $3.83T market cap. Stablecoin inflows remain strong and BTC ETFs see net buys as ETH ETFs face heavy outflows. Strategy centers on defending the $106.7k–$107k zone into PPI/CPI and BLS revisions.

1. Market Movers & Events – Last Week (Sep 1–7)
U.S. labor market collapse: NFP (Aug) came in at just +22k vs. 75k consensus, dragging the 3m average down to ~29k — the weakest since 2010 outside COVID. June was revised negative. Only 4 of 11 sectors posted growth, mostly in education, health, and leisure. Yields broke lower (10y <4.20%, 2y <3.60%), cementing market bets on a Fed cut. Base case = 25bp cuts in Sep, Oct, Dec; chatter of a 50bp move is rising.
Crypto volumes slump despite macro drivers: Market cap rose to $3.83T (+1.1% w/w), but activity was muted with BTC volume at $56.6B (–17%) and ETH volume at $34.3B (–25%). ETH fees fell to 0.14 Gwei, underscoring very low network usage.
Stablecoins surge: Net inflows of +$11.5B last week, with USDC mcap +1.4% w/w vs USDT +0.48%. Strong stablecoin demand provides a supportive backdrop for crypto markets.
ETF flows: BTC ETFs saw +$124M net inflows over the past 7 days, while ETH ETFs posted heavy outflows of –$952M — including $447M on Friday alone.
WLFI launch: World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token officially launched, together with its USD-backed stablecoin USD1. WLFI serves as the governance token of the protocol, while USD1 already ranks as the 5th-largest stablecoin globally with a market cap of $2.5B. WLFI itself surpassed $4.5B in market cap at launch. Both are issued by WLF Holdco, in which Donald Trump and his sons hold a 38% stake through DT Marks DEFI — adding a politically high-profile dimension to the project.
Galaxy stock tokenized on Solana: Galaxy Digital and Superstate issued SEC-registered Galaxy Class A shares directly on the Solana blockchain — the first U.S.-regulated public equity to be natively tokenized. These are not wrappers but legally equivalent shares with full shareholder rights, enabling 24/7 real-time settlement for KYC-approved investors. Early uptake is modest (32k shares across 21 investors) but marks a historic step in bringing regulated equities fully on-chain.
2. Major Events & Economic Data This Week (Sep 8–14)
Sep 9 – BLS Revisions: Preliminary annual payroll revisions covering Apr 2024–Mar 2025. Last year’s revisions cut ~800k jobs and directly triggered a 50bp Fed cut — making this release a potential market mover.
Sep 10 – U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI, Aug): Key read on supply-side inflation trends; a hot print could complicate the Fed’s dovish pivot.
Sep 11 – U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI, Aug): Consensus +0.3% m/m. The Fed’s most closely watched inflation metric ahead of the Sep 17 FOMC. A softer print would reinforce the case for rate cuts.
3. Market Outlook – This Week and Near-Term Strategy
Macro backdrop: Last Friday’s NFP collapse (+22k vs. 78k expected) pushed the Fed into a corner. Markets now price a 25bp cut on Sep 17 with 88% probability, and talk of a 50bp cut is picking up. This sets a dovish stage, but volatility risk around this week’s BLS revisions, PPI, and CPI is high.
Bitcoin: The consolidation of last week built up a large liquidation cluster in the $106.7k–$107k zone, making it a very attractive zone to bounce back from. Liquidity to the upside sits at 115k and 119.2k, with the CME gap at 117k. A weekly close below 107k would accelerate downside risk.
Ethereum & Alts: ETH and alts are still expected to outperform BTC this week. Early weakness in Bitcoin could create attractive entry points into ETH, SOL, and SUI before rotation flows resume.
Sentiment: BTC Greed & Fear Index rebounded to 27% from 9% a week ago — a contrarian buy signal that supports the tactical bear-trap setup.
Flows to watch: Stablecoin inflows remain very strong (+$11.5B last week). This is a key difference from past downtrends and supports our bounce-back scenario.
