Under the communiqué published in the Official Gazette on June 28, 2025, a temporary waiting period has come into effect for crypto asset transfers.
This requirement is implemented to comply with regulatory obligations and to support the security and integrity of the financial system.
What Is a cooldown period?
A cooldown period is a mandatory waiting period that applies before certain crypto assets can be transferred to an external wallet or another platform.
During this period, the affected assets remain visible in your account but cannot yet be transferred.
Why is a cooldown period applied?
The cooldown period helps:
Comply with regulatory requirements
Support the prevention of financial crime
Provide additional protection against unauthorized or suspicious activity
Enhance user and platform security
How long is the cooldown period?
Under current regulations:
A minimum of 72 hours may apply to a user’s first cryptocurrency withdrawal.
A minimum of 48 hours may apply following the purchase, conversion, or deposit of a cryptocurrency before it can be withdrawn.
The waiting period is calculated from the time the relevant crypto asset is acquired or deposited.
Which transactions may be affected?
The cooldown period may apply after:
Purchasing cryptocurrency
Converting one cryptocurrency into another
Depositing cryptocurrency from an external wallet or platform
What can I do during the cooldown period?
While the cooldown period is active:
You can continue viewing your balance.
Your assets remain securely held in your account.
Transfers of assets subject to the cooldown period cannot be completed.
Can the cooldown period be removed?
No.
The cooldown period is applied to satisfy regulatory requirements and cannot be shortened, waived, or removed upon request.
I received a cooldown error message
If you see a message similar to the following:
“Recently acquired or deposited funds are subject to a temporary hold and cannot be transferred yet. They will become available once the hold period has ended.”
it means that the relevant assets are still within the required cooldown period. Once the waiting period expires, transfers will be available automatically.
