What Is an Unpermissioned Ledger?
It is a public ledger that is accessible to anybody and is not governed by a single owner. It is sometimes referred to as permissionless or public because anyone can access as well as download it. Users can submit messages for processing and even participate in authentication, verification, and consensus protocol processes for blockchain transactions.
Difference Between Unpermissioned Ledger and Permissioned Ledger
Unpermissioned ledgers, contrary to permissioned ledgers, allow all users to create data, publish smart contracts, and also run a node. As a result, unpermissioned ledgers are entirely transparent because data is available to everybody.
They also provide incentives for users to run nodes. Unpermissioned ledgers include Bitcoin and Ethereum. Nevertheless, there are a few downsides. Performance, for example, is slow, and the energy consumption is exceptionally high.
