Web 1.0 is a name that is frequently used to characterize the initial version of the internet, which originated in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and ultimately became a global network that symbolized the future of all digital communication at the time. 

Web 1.0 refers to the initial version of what evolved into a developing and expanding medium that evolved into a platform with several functionalities. Web pages were linked together in an early form of the internet. 

These websites lacked any graphic features, controls, or forms that we may encounter when using the internet nowadays. Web 1.0. As an outcome, it is frequently described as the read-only web, which is a non-interactive web. The web user was passive, and most of the user input occurred offline.

An interesting fact regarding Web 1.0 is that it did not exist as a word until Darci DiNucci coined Web 2.0 in 1999. The web underwent significant changes during this time period. Please note that most websites started out as static HTML pages. 

Static pages, website content stored in files, proprietary HTML tags, a guestbook, form e-mailing, and so on were all common Web 1.0 features. In conclusion, Web 1.0 sites were static, not interactive, and used proprietary apps. As servers were upgraded and its designers developed new skills, concepts, and procedures, the move from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 happened over time.
