Bonding Curve
Bonding Curve
What is a bonding curve?
A bonding curve is a mathematical equation that defines the direct relationship between an asset's price and its circulating supply, and is typically used in decentralized finance.
Definition of a bonding curve
A bonding curve is a mathematical equation used to illustrate the relationship between the price of a cryptocurrency and its circulating supply. When the circulating supply of a cryptocurrency increases, its price rises, conversely, when the circulating supply decreases, the price of the cryptocurrency falls. This dynamic creates a continuous market for the asset. Hooking curves can also be customized to suit the requirements of decentralized applications. Developers have the flexibility to choose the type of curve that best aligns with their project's goals.
What is the mathematical principle behind the concept of a demand curve?
Binding curves are often defined by functions such as exponential, logarithmic, or sinusoidal curves. These functions govern the relationship between price and supply and serve as a predictable pricing mechanism for crypto assets. For example, an exponential curve will result in a sharp increase in price as the supply of the cryptocurrency grows, while a logarithmic curve will result in a slower, more gradual increase in price. Depending on the specific needs of the decentralized application, each type of curve exhibits different characteristics.
Related term: "exponential curves" are mathematical graphs that represent either a rapid increase (growth) or a rapid decrease (decline).
