Frequently asked questions
What is the Jito Protocol?
Jito and its trading token (JTO) are a Solana-based liquidity storage protocol that allows users to exchange Solana tokens (SOL) for Jito SOL tokens, which can be used in decentralized finance (DeFi), as well as holding native JTO tokens for governance and participation in the Jito Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). The Jito Protocol is designed to improve the efficiency and security of the staking system on the Solana network. Users can deposit their SOL tokens and receive Jito SOL tokens that represent ownership and staking rewards. These Jeto SOL tokens can be used for various activities within Solana’s decentralized finance ecosystem, such as lending, liquidity farming, and more. Meanwhile, the native JTO token is used for protocol governance through the Jeto Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), as well as to incentivize validators. Consequently, Jito enables SOL token holders to increase liquidity and participate in network governance, in addition to offering more transparent revenue potential.
How does the Jito protocol work?
Jito improves the efficiency of the Solana network by integrating a specialized validator system with a decentralized market for extracting maximum extractable value (MEV) from transactions. It uses the Jito-Solana Client and Relayers to filter transactions and reduce congestion caused by trading bots. The Jito Block Engine aggregates transactions into bundles and conducts off-chain auctions to select the highest-value bundles before passing them to validators for final execution. Additionally, Jito provides a liquidity staking service via JitoSOL tokens, where users deposit SOL tokens to receive JitoSOL tokens in exchange, representing the value of their staked stake. Returns come from traditional staking rewards as well as a portion of MEV fees, with the ability to use JitoSOL for trading and decentralized finance applications without unstaking.
