What Is a Ticker?

A ticker is a trading symbol or abbreviated term (usually in capital letters) that refers to a coin on a trading platform used to distinguish cryptocurrencies. Tickers assist traders stay up to date on the latest price information, and they have a place in the cryptocurrency industry. 

These tools provide a quick snapshot of how a cryptocurrency has fluctuated during intraday trading. The information presented comprises of the symbol, which is the cryptocurrency's abbreviated name.

Examples of Tickers

Bitcoin, for example, would be called BTC, and Ether, ETH.  It is also included in the most recent quoted price for the item in question, as well as a figure indicating how much the coin has increased or decreased in cash as well as percentage terms. To make it extra clearer, the text is colored green if indeed the cryptocurrency has gained value and red if it has lost value.
