What Is a Hidden Cap?

A hidden cap is an unidentified limit on how much money a team chooses to accept from investors at the time of an initial coin offering (ICO). A hidden cap's objective is to level the playing field by allowing smaller investors to put money in without major investors acquiring an accurate idea of the overall cap and altering their investment accordingly. 

It has been said that Hidden Caps is fairer to smaller investors because big investors (Whales) cannot agree on how much to contribute in order to gain - in their perspective - rightful ownership of the tokens distributed during the ICO.
