What is Interoperability?
Interoperability is a critical function in blockchain technology. Also called cross-chain interoperability, the system can disseminate details across different blockchains. It is a massive advantage if a platform allows users to transfer information conveniently and seamlessly.
Cross-chain communication has various benefits. For starters, token holders can trade their digital assets across separate blockchains without needing centralized exchange conventions. Furthermore, interoperability is a crucial component of blockchain technology since users can engage different blockchain-based platforms contemporaneously.
Since interoperability is a groundbreaking technology, it is pivotal for the present and future of blockchains. Cross-chain solutions are available to users, but more viable alternatives must be introduced. Bitcoin and Ethereum have independent interoperable systems, and others should follow their lead.
While we wait for notable platforms to develop interoperable systems, there are alternatives. For example, wrapped tokens are viable options. Also called proxy tokens, solutions like Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) are favorable choices for users. However, a reliable caretaker is required to accommodate the funds or create a dependable minting and burning protocol to ensure a constant stream of cryptocurrency assets.
Bitcoin and Ethereum may be heralded for their contributions, but other platforms are also developing their interoperable protocols. For instance, Komodo's native blockchain will be equipped with an interoperable solution. In addition, Komodo will utilize AtomicDEX, a decentralized exchange that works with virtually all tokens.
As the name implies, AtomicDEX allows users to perform cross-chain transactions through atomic exchanges, defined as the transfer of assets between non-custodial wallets. In addition, AtomicDEX eliminates the need for wrapped tokens.
